Holy Mother of Mercy! It’s the 7×7 Link Award!

Image

What a happy coincidence- on the eve of the Oscars, I’m nominated for my first blog award. I’ve been grinning like an idiot all day, jumping up and down and shouting “Hooray for me!”

It’s been fun. But now, I must delve into the nitty-gritty of the 7×7 Link Award.

Care to join me?

So, in order to accept this award, there are four requirements I must fulfill:

1. Thank the person that gave it to you.

2. Share seven random facts about yourself.

3. Share seven of your worthy posts under the following headers: Most Beautiful Piece, Most Helpful, Most Popular, Most Controversial, Most Surprisingly Successful, Most Underrated and Most Pride Worthy.

4. Nominate seven other bloggers and notify them.

Let’s do this thing.

1. I was nominated for this award by Jen over at The Modern Woman’s Society. As soon as this sentence ends, you need to click that link, because her site is fantastic. Jen covers, more or less, every subject in the blog-o-sphere- photography, recipes, films, and pretty much everything else. Plus, as a twenty one year-old borderline alcoholic, I really appreciate her Drink of the Week page.

She writes with a wonderful, warm and conversational style and I seriously recommend you check our her site.

Thank you so much, Jen.

2. OK, let’s do this random facts thing. Readysetgo.

  1. My sandal broke while I was at the Vatican, and I’m convinced the Pope did it.
  2. I have seen the film Space Jam approximately eight hundred ka-jillion times.
  3. I would pay any (ANY) sum of money to give Bryan Cranston a high-five.
  4. One time, I had a dream that was nothing but a single piece of Trix cereal (the grape kind) surrounded by an empty black void of nothingness. It lasted for hours.
  5. When I was very young, my dad and I built an ostrich waxing machine together. To this day I still haven’t waxed a single ostrich.
  6. In my opinion, ducks are the most delicious animals in the world.
  7. I drove a car in high school that was older than I was, and it had this scary-looking red lever next to the parking brake that said “LIFT FOR EMERGENCY EXIT,” and I was too terrified to ever pull it, for fear of being hurled out of the car via some hidden ejector seat. When I went to college, my parents sold the car to a friend of mine and we always planned on pulling that lever at some point… but it just never happened. Eventually the car died, as twenty-two year old station wagons tend to do. The lever was never pulled. A few weeks ago this all came back to me and I finally googled the damn thing- apparently the lever loosened the seat belts a little bit, in case you got in an accident and needed the seat belts to be slightly looser.

That last one’s not actually a fact (more of a long, boring story), but that’s beside the point.

3. Now, to share with you some of my own posts.

Most Beautiful: Shame

Most Helpful: In Which I Discuss Pop Culture References and The Simpsons (h

Most Popular: Sherlock Holmes: A Character Study

Most Controversial: The Tree of Life

Most Surprisingly Successful: House of Lies: Advanced Pilot

Most Underrated: Police, Adjective

Most Pride Worthy: Rob: Pilot

4. And, finally, I come to my seven nominations.

1. Geek Soul Brother

2. Flixchatter

3. Lenny Tunes: Lenny’s TV Blog

4. Basmati Taco

5. Cinematic

6. Smurfin’ The Web

7. Jkire Studios

And there you have it!

  1. Congratulations! Looks like I have some reading to do to catch up. I totally agree with the most popular pick being the Sherlock Holmes one. I keep wondering if it will ever quite. I can’t believe how controversial it seemed to become and how it morphed into something more than just a television show about a character. Keep the stories coming. Thanks, Cathy

  2. Say what?? Thank you….your kind words really rocked my day! I’m also hugely flattered you actually find my drink of the week useful. A wonderful by-product of me mixing and trying drinks for myself. 🙂

#2 Really? I have never seen that film
#6 I couldn’t agree more! How do they fit all that deliciousness in their scrawny little bodies?
#7 Old cars are a rite of passage. And I would totally love a lever that said “pull in case of emergencies!!”

    Thanks again!

      • Lol…Looney Tunes yes. 1990’s basketball?? Any basketball? Probably not.

However upon your recommendation, if I ever get the opportunity, I shall take it! (And report back).

    • Truly. We could keep an eye out for any 1990 Camrys, and if we see one we could loiter threateningly outside the car until the owner shows up and then beg him to pull the lever.

That may or may not be a stupid idea.

  3. Thanks for nominating me… I’m deeply honored! Your site is awesome Adam, I wish I watched a lot of TV but your writeup is fun to read even if I don’t watch the shows.

I enjoy your film reviews too, and your ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Character Study’ post is great. Keep up the great work, man!
